SharePoint Tips
If installing SP 2010 on 2012 R2 the SP installation media has to be SP 2010 SP2 Slipstream, otherwise it won't work. Run the SP installer using your SP installer account, this account will be the farm owner. It will need local admin rights on all SP farm servers. The account will also need SQL permissions (securityadmin and dbcreator roles) on the SQL server you are creating the SP DB on. SP 2010 Trial Licence Key - VK7BD-VBKWR-6FHD9-Q3HM9-6PKMX During the SP2010 install enter the database server path in the format of sql_servername\DB instance name\port number eg sqlserver\SQL01,10800 During the SP2010 install set the Authentication provider to Kerberos if you want people to authenticate against the SP site using their AD account. Before you can access the Central Administration site on localhost port 30229 you will need to go into IIS, select the CA website, go to Authentication, Windows Authentication and tick Enable Kernel-mode authentication. If you don't do this step you won't be able to authenticate to the website using your AD account. If you ever come across a need to know the connection string for your SharePoint 2010 configuration database you can locate it in the servers registry. The key is called dsn and it is located at:\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\Web Server Extensions\14.0\Secure\ConfigDb
